Tell us four of your proudest accomplishments or accolades.

In March 2024, I completed my graduate coursework and earned an M.S. in strategic fundraising and philanthropy, deepening my commitment to the philanthropic work that helps our community thrive.

Since 2021, I have served on the Association of Fundraising Professionals Central Iowa Chapter Board of Directors.

Since 2016, I have volunteered almost 5,000 hours with Tallgrass Theatre Co. located in West Des Moines in various leadership roles, including resident scenic designer.

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I served as the new home co-chair for Tallgrass Theatre Co., leading the organization in its efforts to find a building to establish a new shared performing arts venue.

What's your biggest passion, and why?

My passions lie in meaningful connection and collaboration. Building connections and working together are essential to awareness, growth and innovation. I believe that by uniting and sharing our diverse perspectives, we can create meaningful change. Each person brings unique experiences, knowledge and insights, and when we collaborate, we unlock new opportunities for growth and transformative impact.

How do you define success, both personally and professionally?

For me, personal success is continuously striving to improve oneself, while also making a positive impact on family, friends and the community. Professional success is all about finding a career path where you feel passionate about the work you are doing to better the community.

Tell us about an issue you think more people should know about.

Your generosity plays an important role in our community. Nonprofit organizations rely on the generosity of individuals and businesses to advance their missions. If you are not already connected, I urge you to get involved with a local cause that you are passionate about and learn how you can make a lasting positive change.

What's an experience or memory that influenced how you saw the world or what you wanted to do in life?

As a child, my parents were active volunteers in our small rural community of Melcher-Dallas, Iowa. Their dedication displayed the importance of community support by giving of their time, talents and treasure. My younger sister and I were often involved in many of those efforts, which laid the foundation for my lifelong career in the nonprofit sector.

What are your aspirations for the future?

My career aspirations are to serve in an executive leadership role within a Central Iowa arts and culture organization. Continuing to connect and learn from others, while also sharing my knowledge and expertise with those around me also plays a role in my immediate goals, both professionally and personally.

What's one piece of advice you'd give to a young professional?

Be curious and get involved. Find an organization where your involvement fills your bucket and brings you joy. Don’t be afraid to reach out and make a connection. There are people within the community who are excited to support your goals and share their own experiences with you.

What's one regular habit that's made you successful?

I work out six days a week for both my physical and mental health. My early-morning workout generates endorphins to release any stress and provides a boost of energy to be successful for the day. The gym has also become a place of community and friendship, which makes each workout that much better.

What is one thing you would like to see Central Iowa leaders address, and why?

Central Iowa leaders must prioritize investment in arts education to ensure all students, regardless of background, have access to creative opportunities. Arts education fosters creativity, collaboration and critical thinking — skills vital to a thriving community. With Iowa ranking 48th in per capita arts funding, nonprofit arts organizations fill critical gaps; however, sustainable support is essential to their success. Increased funding will enrich students’ lives, empower educators and build a more vibrant, equitable future for Central Iowa.
