A reason why he is a Forty: In addition to his public affairs work for the Partnership, Murphy is president of the West Des Moines Public Library’s board of trustees and chairman of the March of Dimes' March for Babies event with the goal of raising $175,000.

What drives him: Murphy is originally from New Hampshire but he made the choice to be in Iowa. “I’m motivated to make sure my adopted home state presents the same opportunities to future generations of Iowans,” he said.
