Reasons he is a Forty: His day job is the founder and CEO at Bing Bang, a marketing firm in Waukee. He started the company eight years ago. Away from the office, he serves as the Marcom board chair for Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) Iowa chapter. In Pleasantville, he co-founded an annual event, the Pleasantville Pigout, that will celebrate 11 years this summer. It has evolved into the Pleasantville Betterment Organization, a nonprofit where he serves as the president. He never misses an opportunity to be on the ball fields or courts coaching his kids’ sports teams. He helped start the Pleasantville Sports Association and serves as a board member.
What are your goals in your role at your company? I want to tell the story of Iowa. I want our clients to win. I want Bing Bang to be successful because of the great people. I want to create a ripple through each person that makes the world a better place through their own journey.
What are your goals for your community involvement? I want to see small-town Iowa, especially Pleasantville, be vibrant. Allow the ag industry in these rural areas to thrive, not just survive. Grow and develop youths through sports to be amazing characters in their community.
What's your biggest passion, and why? Family — they are the reason I want to innovate and constantly evolve. It's not for me, it's for the next generation.
What is it that drives you? People. I love people and I want to see them reach their full potential. Many times that's challenging the norm. Thinking outside the box, just trying to create something that is better tomorrow than it is today. We can do better and we can't wait for someone else to do it.
What are your future aspirations? I want to tell stories. I want positive stories that can uplift the world. How can we share and showcase more? Through Bing Bang we can do this in our unique way to build Iowa stronger than ever.
Three hobbies: Traveling anywhere, sprint car racing, coaching any sport my kids are in.
Fun fact: Sprint cars gave him the gift of learning numbers at a very early age.
One word to describe you: Spark plug.
What is your wish for the Central Iowa business community? We stop trying to be somebody. We are great, and I love it. We are the perfect mix of amenities and quality of life. In a world where we are constantly chasing, I love that people are constantly trying to figure out how to live like us Iowans. Just be us.
Anything else you haven't addressed that people must know about you? It's so much bigger than any one person. If COVID has taught us anything, it's to believe more. My foundation is grounded in faith in God. None of this is possible without him and glory should be his.
What's one piece of advice that you would give to a young professional? Never settle, constantly be learning and growing. Find your tribe. Believe in yourself, your mission and your purpose.
What is one issue you would like to see Central Iowa leaders address? Struggling rural Iowa. How can we make the heartland vibrant again?
